Elon Musk has confirmed the date for the first deliveries of the new Tesla Model S Plaid, which promises to be the quickest production car.



The $119,990 sedan is powered by three electric motors with a combined output of 1,020 hp and can accelerate to 60 mph in 1.99 seconds and cover a quarter mile in 9.43 seconds, according to Tesla.


During a Tesla earnings call in January, Musk said production was already underway and the deliveries would start in February, but it was later revealed that none of the cars had been built yet.

It is also advertised with a top speed of 200 mph and a range of 390 miles per charge. An even quicker $149,990 Model S Plaid+ with a listed range of 520 miles is currently scheduled for release in mid-2022.



The entire Model S lineup has been redesigned and features a yoke style steering wheel design that has been under review by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
